Sicky Sickerson's
So the viral bugs have hit us hard this past week or so. Parker had the distinction of getting it first and were it not for Bobby only being 3 weeks old, I'd probably say the worst. She had a horribly high fever, cough, and runny nose. Just miserable, the poor little gal. The cough lingers some, although mostly in the form of an occasional fit, rather than constantly. Her nose is still a little faucet, but at least the fever is better.
Piper had a little bout with pink eye first but now seems to have caught the coughing bug that everyone else has.
Bobby then started in with some congestion and runny nose. The first night/day weren't so bad, but that second night was AWFUL. I contemplated taking him to the ER because the poor little bug just couldn't catch his breath and started having some nasal flaring and abdominal retractions. Not all the time, but obviously enough that it was a little worrisome. I just stayed up with him all night and we battled through it, but decided we ALL needed to get in to the doctor. SO first thing yesterday morning we all trekked over to the clinic (in a Blizzard no less) and were seen.
The girls, as I suspected, were on the mend, but were given some antibiotics just to give it a final boot. Bobby, though has RSV, which is especially rough on kids his age. AND wouldn't you know it, there's nothing they can do or he can take. Just have to ride it out. It's miserable for him and miserable for this mom to watch him struggle. They considered admitting him, but as his oxygen level was great (and I'm a nurse), they decided to send him home and just said to watch him. Last night was better, but still a struggle.
As if adjusting to three kids weren't hard enough, we've got to be sick to top it all off. I think mine is probably more as a result of a weakened immune system from exhaustion, but carry on I guess. Hopefully the kids all feel better soon and we can get somewhat of a normal routine going and enjoy some of the time I have left on maternity leave!
