First Night of Racing
Well the first night of racing for the season had its ups and downs. On the bright side Piper handled it pretty well. Piper does not like loud sounds, such as lawnmowers, motorcycles, semi's, and most likely racecars (although that one hadn't been tested). I bought her a pair of Kid's Winchester earplugs last year but she wouldn't leave them on. I was curious to see how she would do with them this year. When we first got to the races she was pretty jumpy and scared. We got settled into our seats and I tried putting the headset on but she wasn't into it. I finally slipped them on over her hood when she wasn't paying attention. She tried to take them off but I held her hands down and distracted her. She forgot about them pretty quickly and left them on the rest of the night. She wasn't totally into it but tolerated the races at least. Brad did okay as far as racing. He was pretty fast but got sent to the back in the heat for causing a caution and then broke a shock. During the feature (which we left prior to) he started last and got up to 5th. He jumped the cushion on the restart with a couple laps to go and lost a few spots. Ended up finishing 7th. Too long of a night so as I said Piper and I left early. Every other Thursday I go in to work at 10 so it won't be so bad taking Piper those wednesday nights. She'll get to sleep in a little.
