Surprise...It's Broken!
Sooo..Yeah it was broken. Damn mother/nurse combo. Such warring in my brain! So last week on Monday night she was playing and tripped and fell. She kind of landed on her sippy cup and she whined a little and held her hand up like it was hurt. But she got over it quickly and moved on (you'll hear this alot), so I didn't think much of it. The next morning my mom watched so she could take her to the doctor (for recurrent cough/respiratory symptoms). Mom took her to the doctor and mentioned to Dr. Gyano (which I didn't know at the time) that Piper was favoring her right arm. Apparently she didn't think much of it because nothing was done at the time. That night when I picked her up, mom mentioned it to me, and she was kind of refraining from using it to pull herself up on things, but she would still hold stuff with it and pick things up with it. Didn't seem to bothered by it so I just decided to watch it. That night when we got home, she tripped over a blanket she was trying to crawl over and tried to catch herself on her doll stroller. It rolled forward and tipped back and she landed on the same hand. This time she ran around the house like a mad woman screaming and crying so hard it broke my heart! She wouldn't even let me hold her or console her. Cried so hard she couldn't catch her breath. She ran into her dark bedroom and sat on the floor and just cried. Saddest thing I've ever seen. I was all set to rush her to the ER but Brad convinced me to hold back a minute and see if she would calm down. I gave her some ibuprofen and held her and she settled down pretty quickly. She fell asleep shortly thereafter. The next morning she was using it fine. Everyone once in a while if she moved it wrong or bumped it she would whimper but got over it pretty quickly. Finally Sunday night I was wiping her hand off after supper and she pulled it away and whimpered. So this had been going on for a week. At this point I know she should have been over it, so decided to take her to the doctor today---yep totally broken (okay not totally but greenstick fracture). Guilty mom award, but childrens bones are supposed to be hard to break! Which I guess is why it was just a greenstick, but ughh. Anyways cast off in 3 weeks and she's handled it all pretty well!!
