On the Mend?
Well Piper has gotten over her stomach virus and her appetite is improving. She used to eat EVERYTHING in sight, and while she isn't quite up that level again, she is doing better. She's gotten a little bit pickier about what she eats, which is frustrating, but at least she's eating, and to her father's delight, at least she will still eat beef.
She's maybe/hopefully/probably/almost over the cough/cold she's had for 10 days. It's kind of hard to tell. One day she seems absolutely fine and the next day she's not her usual self and has a fever.
Monday Candi texted me at about 4:00 and told me that she had a fever, looked pale and wasn't her usual self. When I picked her up she seemed fussy and uncomfortable, like she hurt. So we went home that night and I gave her some Motrin. She was kind of clingy and whiney but played and for the most part was okay. She tripped once and her hand landed wrong on her sippy cup. I thought she had hurt her finger but she got over it fairly quickly. The next day she went to my moms and mom took her to the doctor for her cold. They tested her for RSV and influenza, both of which were negative.
That night when I picked her up from mom's, mom mentioned that she thought she had hurt her arm because she was favoring it. I tried moving it at the shoulder and elbow and she was fine with that, but when I tried moving her wrist she whimpered and pulled it away. She would still pick things up and hold things, but wouldn't move it too much and wouldn't use it as she usually does. I decided to just keep an eye on it.
Then when we got home she was climbing over a pile of blankets and got caught up in them and tripped. She tried to grab on to her doll stroller which rolled and fell back and she landed on the same wrist again. She cried and cried and cried! She wouldn't even come to me to be consoled. I tried to hold her and she would pull away and just run around the house holding her wrist against her body. She went into her room, which the light wasn't even on, and just sat there and cried. I felt soooo horrible! I was all ready to take her to the ER and Brad had to calm me down and said to give her a minute to calm down and see how she was. Her wrist wasn't swollen or red or anything. I gave her some motrin and she did fall asleep and seemed okay this morning, but I tell ya, it really is one thing after another with kids! She's still been favoring it, but will use it sparingly to hold or pick up some things. I guess we'll see how she does tonight and go from there. I don't want to be the mom that ignored her kids broken wrist, but we've also been to the doc like 4 times in the last 3 weeks! I don't think its broken though. I think its just sprained or bruised.
Hopefully this is the last of our sicknesses/injuries for the winter and we can move on with spring soon!
